Abstract

A lo largo del proceso de desarrollo de nuestro rendimiento motor se vuelve más hábil, constante y automático, lo que permite la adquisición gradual de un repertorio de habilidades básicas necesarias a las demandas ambientales de nuestra vida cotidiana. Sin embargo, algunos niños tienen dificultades graves durante este proceso y se destacan porque tienen una cierta incomodidad en participar en juegos, deportes y actividades de la escuela. Estos niños han sido identificados como Trastorno de coordinación del desarrollo - DCD. En este ensayo teórico, se presentan los aspectos de la diversidad de la terminología, la conceptualización de los problemas y las tasas de prevalencia de este trastorno. La controversia en la identificación de trastornos es guiada por el uso de diferentes métodos de evaluación y criterios de inclusión, se explica con el fin de poner de relieve los diferentes enfoques utilizados por los investigadores que intentan explicar tales déficits motores.
